With many years of professional legal experience at my disposal, you don’t have to pick between quick, experienced, cost effective, and thorough.
Quick: Clients will receive personal and immediate attention to their matters. I am always just a text, call, or email away, and won’t leave you speaking to an assistant or answering service. Unfortunately, many entertainment attorneys, whether solo practitioners or large firms, take a very long time to respond to clients, or to finalize matters. Some even drag out negotiations just to rack up billing hours. I never undertake unnecessary negotiations just to bill more, I do not take on more work than I can handle, and my independent operation will never be delayed by the cumbersome, bureaucratic structure that slows down big law firms.
Experienced: Experience with high-profile individuals and companies means that clients can trust me to advise them while protecting anonymous and virtual artists identities, proprietary technology, and sensitive financial information. Over the last decade I have worked on contracts involving thousands of professional artists, writers, managers, record labels, and other companies, including artists Armin Van Buuren, The Chainsmokers, Hardwell, Laidback Luke, Lil Jon, Quintino, Shaquille O'Neal, Steve Aoki, Tiesto, Vini Vici, Zedd, and companies Amazon, Apple, Armada, Atlantic, BVLGARI, Disney, Interscope, Hulu, Les Mills, Netflix, Republic, Spinnin’, Spotify, Universal, and Warner. The types of agreements I have worked on vary widely, from more modern agreements involving streaming, downloads, digital content, master use/synchronization (movies, games, tv shows) NFTs, and virtual reality, to more traditional agreements involving recording, publishing, distribution, music videos, sublicenses, events, management, talent, employment, and independent contractor agreements. The culmination of my experiences allows me to efficiently serve all kinds of clients on a variety of music-industry related issues.
Cost Effective: Many think of lawyers as these faceless villains, in suits, surrounded by leather-bound books in their high rise office, who are ready to ignore your calls and send a five to six figure bill to you at the end of the month. I don’t operate that way. I believe in getting to know clients before deciding to represent them and speaking in depth before any commitment is made. Cost estimates will always be provided up front to avoid surprise bills.
Thorough: If you decide to engage my services, I will attend to your matters personally, beginning to end, every time. Most agreements need to be customized to the needs of the specific client, and I will work closely with you to make sure your needs are met. I encourage second opinions and will not hold my perspective or experience as more valuable than yours. If I believe that for any reason I cannot handle you matter promptly and thoroughly, I will let you know up front, and will still work to guide you in the right direction to someone who can help. Even if you are not my client today, perhaps you or someone you refer to me will be my client in the future. Whatever the case may be, I am always happy to help.
